1.  In order to avoid an overdue fine, please make sure the due date shown on your borrowed materials that you borrowed before June 8^th , 2012 . You can log-on the library’s Online Public Access Catalogue to process a renewal prior the due date. If the items have been reserved, they could not be renewed, please return them immediately. Overdue fine will be charged at the rate of NT$5 per due item each day.

2.  Please be aware of the library opening houses during the summer vacation. In order to avoid an overdue penalty and have a longer period to borrow library materials, you can check out materials during the week of final exam from June 11^st through June 15^th then you will be able to keep the items with you until the first week of new semester. Lockers in the Library study lounge begin to be registered on library website from May 14, 2012 to May 30, 2012.Prospective Fourth-year students have the priority to apply for the lockers. the roster will be announced on the Library web homepage and bulletin board on June 4 and start the using right on the same time. Please note, library’s circulation policy has changed as below:

Please note that all items may be renewed anytime after the initial check out and the due date will be restarted after renewal. Please log in your Library Account to check the new due date. In order to make more materials be available for other readers immediately, if the item has reserved by another reader, the loan period will be 14 days only. 

Moreover, the maximum overdue fine of each borrowed item is NT.500. If you have overdue fine of NT.200 or more, library will suspend your right of loan until you pay the total amount of fines. Besides, according to new borrowing rules, the loan period is extended so that there is no more “graceful allowance”. Please renew or return loan items on time to avoid overdue fines or suspension of loan privileges. Again, please sign into your library account regularly to check the due date of loan items.

The time to enable the new library system will be postponed to Monday February 20th, 2012 because the data transfer needs more time. During this period (Sunday December 25th 2011 to Sunday February 20th 2012), the library will keep all services except some online services such as Online reserves and Online Renewal Services. To avoid late fees, please access to your library account to make sure the due date of borrowed books frequently.

2011-12 Library Week Activity: Procedures for the Selection of Library Emblem

• Activity Mission

Enhance library image through a creative emblem that manifests library features and ambition to connect with the world. The library emblem is also a basic identification mark for the library.

• Host: Ming Chuan University Library

• Eligibility: All faculty and staff members, and students

• Works

A.    Printed Work: Present a colorful figure of any format on a sheet of A4 paper; however, neither the length nor width of the figure should be smaller than 15 cm. The pantone color must be marked and a design statement of 200 or fewer characters included. Please mount your work on a board without any frame or notes, and attach the completed application form on the back of the board.

B.    Electronic format: Print out one copy of your work vertically on A3 paper and submit your work in both AI and JPEG format at resolution higher than 300 DPI. In principle, the figure size must be bigger than 15 cm x 15 cm in standard CMYK format. Please indicate the file name and attach a CD of your work with the application form.  

C.    No restriction is made on the number of pieces submitted, but each work must have one application form attached and include a statement of the idea of the design (including the idea expression, the meaning of the figure and the application possibility.)

• Activity Schedule

A.    Deadline: Now through December 23, 2011

B.    Venue for submission: The front desk in the library (submitted work with the application form)

C.    Award announcement: Winners will be notified via telephone or e-mail before the end of December 2011. The results will also be announced in MC Weekly, on the library website and library bulletin board.

• Evaluation method: 

First Stage: Will invite professional faculty members in the institution to select five excellent works.

Second Stage: Will ask our librarians to vote on the work they prefer. The library has the right to not award prizes if the works do not meet the criteria.

• Prizes

First Prize: 2,000 NTD (only one) and a certification.

Second Prize: 1,500 NTD (only one) and a certification.

Third Prize: 1,000 NTD (only one) and a certification.

• Notes for participation:

A.    The relevant procedures and application may be downloaded via “Library Week Activity“ of the Library website or picked up at the Library Circulation Desk.

B.    Submissions will not be returned.

C.    All the submissions must be produced by the applicants. Once an awarded work or outcome is proved to be plagiarized or in violation of Copyright Law, the award will be cancelled.

D.    The intellectual property rights for all the works will belong to MCU Library, and the authorship belongs to the author. The works cannot be submitted for any other competitions.

As the high-voltage power substation switch device will be replaced for E Building on Taipei campus, there will be no power from 8:00 to 12:00 in library on November 5, 2011 (Saturday); the library will be closed during that time and start open after 12:00pm .

2011 "Reading & Taoyuan" Campus Seminar and Book Fair

So as to promote the reading atmosphere in the city, Taoyuan campus Library and Taoyuan County Government Cultural Affairs Bureau will hold the 2011 "Reading & Taoyuan" Campus Seminar and Book Fair. We plan to invite author Wang, Hsiang-Chi to present a speech in M104 Conference Room of Design Building on Taoyuan campus at 12:10-14:00 on September 30, 2011.
