Exhibition of Founder Pao’s Magnificent Chipao Collection

Mar.28th~Apr.10th, 2009

As Ming Chuan reached its 30th anniversary, changes could be observed in Dr. Pao’s chipaos; some western touches show up in the Chinese style, including the cut of the collars and neck openings, as well as circular, dotted and striped fabric patterns. While Founder Pao was developing more international connections, this unique integration of east and west in her dress made an impression on her new acquaintances, all the while taking her culture onto the international stage. Her style innovations, preserving the form-fitting chipao tradition, made their way to the sports field too, as she led the Ming Chuan football squad into international competition, expanding the Republic of China’s participation in the area of sports diplomacy. Welcome to the Library and enjoy it.
