Book Fair: Explore Taipei 101 |
In order to
make Taipei Citizens understand the diversity of
Taipei city, a book fair related to discover
Taipei city is organized by Taipei Public
Library. To promote this event, library on
Taoyuan Campus is going to cooperation with it
as well as holding a book fair at the second
floor in Taoyuan Ying Chao Memorial Library from
May 30 to June 10, 2011. Welcome to explore
various people and things surrounding Taipei
city throughout reading specific books. |

are eligible to graduate in this semester please
be aware of the due date for each borrowed
material is May 27, 2011. Please ensure if you
have returned all borrowed items to the library
in order to receive your diploma smoothly.
Seniors who
delay graduation and wish keeping books
borrowing privilege, please apply for extending
borrowing privilege in case so that the due date
for borrowing privilege is September 17, 2011.
Graduating
seniors are not allowed to borrow the materials
from the library if they do not apply for
extending loan periods online by May 23, 2011.

will have an exhibition of New York Times Best
Seller. The exhibition will be located in Ying
Chao Memorial Library on the Taoyuan Campus from
April 25 ~ May 6, 2011. We will exhibit the best
seller books which chosen by New York Times. You
are welcome to participate in this great event! |

advantage of reading area in library during the
examination season, please do not “OCCUPIED” the
seats in the reading area. If you plan to leave
the library for more than one hour, please bring
your personal belongings with you. It will be
regarded as occupying seats if you have left the

To accommodate
the closing day of academic exchange week of
each university and college, inter-library loan
service will not be available for borrowing
books from March 31 to April 10, 2011. Returning
books on the opening day of each library is
still available, as well as the inter-library
loan card service.
We will extend
the deadline for returning borrowed books to
April 11, 2011; thus, library users do not need
to worry about exceeding the overdue notice.
Since each
library closing day is different during the
academic exchange week, please check the
schedule before making a trip. |

Can transcribing recordings made by others
become a new publication? Do you pay attention
to copyright common sense on campus?

ensure students’ better understanding of
Protection of Intellectual Property Rights and
preventing violation of copyright through the
use the textbooks instead of copying, the
library will exhibit the relevant books and hold
“Copyright
Question and Answer” from March 7 to 18,
2011. Those who answer all questions with

In order to avoid an
overdue fine, please make sure the due date
shown on your borrowed materials that you
borrowed before December 31st, 2010. You can
log-on the library’s Online Public Access
Catalogue to process a renewal five days
prior the due date. If the items have been
reserved, they could not be renewed, please
return them immediately. Overdue fine will
be charged at the rate of NT$5 per due item
each day.

Please be aware of the
library opening hours during the winter
vacation. In order to avoid an overdue
penalty and have a longer period to borrow
library materials, you can check out
materials during the week of final exam from
January 10th through January 14th then you
will be able to keep the items with you
until the first week of new semester. ( Due
date is February 18th,2011)

Over 50,000 new
titles were added, including 40,855 in Chinese
and Japanese, and 9,669 in Western languages.
Most of these books have been used for study,
teaching, research, and leisure. We appreciate
teachers’ and students’ recommendations, because
some of the books are bestsellers or the
Chinatimes and UDN’s Book of the Year. If you
come to the library, you always can find the
book you want, if not, you can go on the “Online
recommendation system” to make a request. |

In the 2009
academic year, 289 films that were exhibited,
nominated or won awards were added at the
library. These films were used in class or
watched in the library. Our audio-visual center
is like a small theater; you can come here and
select films to watch. You will find that you
can not only search information, read, and
borrow books, but also watch movies. You can
enjoy them in your free time. |
Characteristically themed books recommended in
the 2010 academic year |
The library,
from now on, will recommend differently themed
books every year to make our collection more
complete. The themes of 2010 academic year will
be “marine biology,” “Taiwanese culture,”
“gender issues,” “human rights,” and “themes of
life.” If you are interested in these themes,

E-Resources Workshops |
The library
will hold two workshops to help you learn about
the e-resources in MCU Library. We hope it will
not only benefit to your teaching and research,
moreover, you can also guide your students in
using these resources.
The workshop
will cover several areas: introduction of
library and available services, inter-library
cooperation system, using e-resources
off-campus, and briefing on important resources
such as SSCI, SCI, AHCI, and JCR, EndNote. We
will adjust other topics flexibly according to
the needs of participants.

Set Up Change for Use of
E-resources Off-campus |
Starting from
today, verification for use of e-resources
off-campus is changed. You will now access them
by logging in with your employee ID number and
password (same as in Moodle System or Faculty
Information System). No need to key in a
hostname after @. The school email password is
no longer able to verify your identity to use
the e-resources off-campus. Please make any
necessary changes in your home computer set-up. |
Summer Vacation |
1.
In order to avoid an overdue
fine, please make sure the due date shown on
your borrowed materials that you borrowed before
June 14th , 2010 . You can log-on the
library’s Online Public Access Catalogue to
process a renewal five days prior the due date.
If the items have been reserved, they could not
be renewed, please return them immediately.
Overdue fine will be charged at the rate of NT$5
per due item each day.
2.
Please be aware of the library opening houses
during the summer vacation. In order to avoid an
overdue penalty and have a longer period to
borrow library materials, you can check out
materials during the week of final exam from
June 21st through June 25th
then you will be able to keep the items with you
until the first week of new semester. ( Due date
is September 17th,2010)

To improve the
quality of the study environment for both
teachers and students, the Taoyuan campus
library's 4th floor study area will be
undergoing expansion construction. The
construction is estimated to be completed before
the end of the semester and will increase seats
by about 200.
During the
construction, the university will coordinate
with the construction team to minimize the
impact for everyone. We apologize for the noise
in the library during this period and suggest
you to utilize the main floor study area
(circulation desk ground floor), the 3rd floor,
or the Self-Study Center in the International
Dormitory Building.
