Summer Vacation

1. In order to avoid an overdue fine, please make sure the due date shown on your borrowed materials that you borrowed before June 14^th , 2010 . You can log-on the library’s Online Public Access Catalogue to process a renewal five days prior the due date. If the items have been reserved, they can not be renewed, please return them immediately. Overdue fine will be charged at the rate of NT$5 per due item each day.

2. Please be aware of the library open house during the summer vacation. In order to avoid an overdue penalty and have a longer period to borrow library materials, you can check out materials during the week of final exam from June 21^st through June 25^th then you will be able to keep the items with you until the first week of new semester. ( Due date is September 17^th,2010)

Register for locker

Attention: Taipei campus’ Students who are interested in applying for a locker in the Library Reader’s room. Those who are going to be 4th-year students can register for a locker at the service desk on the 1st floor with Student ID card from this week until June 11, 2010. If applicants exceed the quota, a drawing will be held. The new use period is from June 17, 2010 to May 20, 2011 and the roster will be announced on June 15, 2010. Students who are using the lockers now must clear out their lockers by May 28, 2010. The library will not take any responsibility for locker contents after May 29, 2010.

library is under construction

To improve the quality of the study environment for both teachers and students, the Taoyuan campus library's 4th floor study area will be undergoing expansion construction. The construction is estimated to be completed before the end of the semester and will increase seats by about 200.

During the construction, the university will coordinate with the construction team to minimize the impact for everyone. We apologize for the noise in the library during this period and suggest you to utilize the main floor study area (circulation desk ground floor), the 3rd floor, or the Self-Study Center in the International Dormitory Building.

We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the construction. Again, we appreciate your cooperation and look forward to an improved, more comfortable study area.
　

The due date for graduate

The due date for students who graduate this year is May 28th, 2010. Please make sure return all the material you have checked out before you graduate in June. Borrowing privileges are extended to Super-Senior by September 10th and the due date is on September 24th, 2010. You are responsible for processing lending loan in front of the circulation desk from May 1st to May 31st, 2010.

Exhibition of the Best Seller Books in 2009

The library will have an exhibition of the best seller books in 2009. The exhibition will be located both in Ying Chao Memorial Library on the Taoyuan Campus and De-Ming Memorial Library in Taipei from May 10th to May 21st. We will exhibit the best seller books in 2009 which chosen by Chinatimes and Eslite Bookstore. You are welcome to participate in this great event!

B Box Show

Chinese Ink and Wash Painting of Yu-Mei Lin

Chinese Ink and Wash Painting of Yu-Mei Lin will be held at both branches library (Taipei and Taoyuan Campus) in MCU. There are approximately 20 works selected from Ms. Yu-Mei Lin’s creations. Ms. Lin has learned about painting for 34 years and excellent in this filed. Exhibition duration in Taipei Campus library is from March 30th to April 16th as well as April 20th to April 30th in Taoyuan Campus library. You are welcome to enjoy it.

The library will be closed from April 2nd to April 5th, 2010 because of School Anniversary make up holiday and the National Holiday Tomb-Sweeping Festival. The Exhibition about Mr. Ming-Chuan Liu

Ming Chuan University is named after Mr. Ming-Chuan Liu because of his magnificent contributions to Taiwan. This year 2010 is the 53rd anniversary of Ming Chuan University, and there is a special exhibition, “For each member of Ming-Chuan to know about Ming-Chuan,” to celebrate its birthday. We would like to invite all our faculty, students and honor guests to participate and promote the achievements and contributions that Mr. Ming-Chuan Liu did to Taiwan.

In the exhibition, we provide 61 kinds of library collections, including 58 volumes of books and 3 pieces of audiovisual materials, which already cover most information about Mr. Ming-Chuan Liu in Taiwan and mainland China. In addition, the library specially offered a brief introduction to each item in order to facilitate the visitors to understand the connection between Mr. Ming-Chuan Liu and the information provided. We hope, via the exhibition, the visitors will realize more background about Ming Chuan University and then exalt the spirit of Mr. Ming-Chuan Liu.

Good news, circulation regulation has been revised

To meet your needs and best utilize library resources, the library circulation regulation has been revised as follows:

The loan quota for faculty and staff, graduate students and undergraduate students in MCU has increased by 5 items per person. Moreover, the number of library items each user can place on hold has been increased from 3 to 5. To keep the most popular materials circulating, these books are subject to recall if they are needed by other users. To increase circulation of popular books, material will now only be reserved for 3 working days.
　

Carpet cleaning

On Jan.26th~Jan.29th, the Taipei Library will have the carpet cleaning. The floor will not open when the carpet cleaners is working. Please go to the rest of other floors！ The study lounge will not open on Jan.27th–Jan.28th during the cleaning period. Thank you for your cooperation!

Have your MCU card ready when you enter the library

To ensure the security of readers and property in the library buildings, when you get into the library please have your student or faculty ID card with you throughout using the Security System.

Free Book Delivery Services via Northern ILS System

Interlibrary Loan of Northern Taiwan Teaching & Learning Resource Center held by Soochow University is providing the latest services for each cooperation library member. Certainly, it is available to MCU faculty, staff and current students who need the materials that are not available through our library.

 You can search the materials’ status and bibliography record within 20 academic libraries via this online system. Additionally, you can place a title request throughout Free Book Delivery Services via Northern ILS System. Eight of Northern ISL members offer you to borrow the materials via Northern ILS System without paying any shipping fee from 8th October to 31st December, 2009.

Please be aware of picking up and returning the materials you reserve personally to our library. Furthermore, you can apply for “Visual Library Card” with your valid identify card to the cooperation libraries to check out the books. (Cooperation Libraries are Included TNUA, PCCU, NIU, SCU, NTOU, AU, and HFU.)

You can get a specific folder which provided by the sponsor if you apply for the Free Book Delivery Services. (First come, first service)

◎The number certificate for admission of the Audiovisual room of third floor is issued to the public 30 minutes before the movie starts at the left side outside the Archive. One certificate for one person and limited numbers of certificates for each show. To provide a pleasant environment for everyone to enjoy the movie, no entrance is allowed 10 minutes after the movie starts.
